Dream: on a friend’s birthday…

January 23, 2015

I Have a Dream!

I have a dream that one day, in Addis, I will live a life that I am aspiring for, & I will walk with dignity and speak with integrity: just the way I feel it inside, and without any fear of being labeled or left battered.

I have a dream that one day, I will see journals &journalists of different kinds, on production; and I will read on interest to topics &views.

I have a dream that one day, I will stay the same affectionate and tenderhearted to the Sun, the Moon &the Stars; and to the days &the nights, at a time.

I have a dream that one day, I will start waking up at home to feel here (at home), enjoy days to the fullest, and go to bed with due sense of accomplishment.

I have a dream that one day, the roads of Kality and Akaki won’t be roads that I frequently go through to visit prisoner friends, but ways to Debre Zeit when I go there for weekend vacations.

I have a dream that one day, I will not abuse the coffee I take that I will stand at the position it pushes me to.

I have a dream that one day, I will stop oppressing myself that I will write the ideas I am refusing to myself, while the impetus is urging swiftly. And I will read them loud, standing in pride &sense of triumph.

I have a dream that one day, social networks will not be arenas that I will come to feel helpless, scared &despaired.

I have a dream that one day, I will write poems/articles to compliment the deeds of higher officials, and I will write heartfelt eulogies on any loss.

I have a dream that one day, I will stop censoring myself and friends with an intention of surviving hard times and showing due care to self and loved ones. (Damn!, how thoroughly I have looked even into this, before I post it!?:-/ )

I have a dream that one day, I will reunite with friends imprisoned and those on exile, to chit-chat, to fight over a topic, &collaborate for common developmental goals &benevolent contributions for the community; and at times to enjoy leisure times, like birthday parties.

I have a dream!

Some words are left unsaid; &some feelings are left unexpressed. But,

I have a dream!

————-
“I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.”

This is part of the prominent speech of Martin Luther King Jr. delivered five decades ago, at the Lincoln Memorial. And I whisper it today too ~ at different time &place setting… &with modifications on the strings, subjects &objects ~, but the message being fresh throughout, &the power ever steady.
